Wedding dress trends change from year to year, but what’s the new cool? I have the pleasure of welcoming Michelle Pilon to the blog today for the first in a series of guest blog posts from some of my favourite vendors in the city of Kingston. Michelle is the owner of Lovebird Bridal Boutique and as a Bridal Consultant, she is up on what’s current when it comes to wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and the accessories that bring it all together. Today she’ll drop a little knowledge on what you should be looking out for this year! Without further ado, here’s what Michelle has to say about wedding dress trends along with some of my photos from recent weddings and from the boutique itself.
One of the most favorite parts of owning a bridal boutique is seeing the new styles coming out each season before they hit our boutique floor. What is exciting about 2016 is that the trends are made for all; from the lover of a simple style, to the classic bride, to the elegant. This year’s trends hit them all on the head!
Here are some trends that stand out in my mind when I think of this year’s collection;
Airy, layered skirts that create amazing dimension and a gorgeous soft feel that is so impactful when you hit that aisle.
Boho styles that create amazing soft looks that are light and easy to wear. These styles are sprinkled with illusion tops, lace appliques and low backs.
Simple fabric, that is oh so sleek and timeless. We are seeing an emergence of crepe and satin creating really simple lines that present a timeless look.
Separates, this is what I am most excited about! The ability to wear and remove a skirt on your wedding day to create two looks. This is so smart! I constantly have people saying, ‘can I take the top of this dress and pair it with the bottom of that dress’. I am thrilled to be able to say ‘YES!’ to that question.
All that being said we hope to see you here at Lovebird Bridal Boutique swooning over our new gowns, and saying ‘YES’ to a dress that fits your unique style.
Happy Shopping! (this is Michelle pictured above)
