Number one question about engagement photos is, “do we really have to do them?!” Well, kinda, but that’s not the point of this caption. Number two question is, “ok fine, but where should we do them?” Ahh, this question is my favourite because it’s the opportunity to inspire an idea that is different than the rest. Nothing wrong with a sunny afternoon in the spring at the park, but let’s be honest, that’s been done. I always recommend that my couples choose an activity they enjoy doing together and we turn it into a shoot. Annie and Benson took my advice to heart and we went out on the frozen lake for some cross country skiing! YESSS! I was so pumped to go out and make these photos with them and even more pumped when they humoured me and let me shoot a few drone portraits. I’ve crashed the drone more often than I’ve had successful landings, but it’s a lot of fun!
See, we got out there, had some fun, experimented with a few weird ideas but mostly, Annie and Benson were in their comfort zone and enjoying being on their skis. I ran around and got some angles of action shots, posed them here and there when the time was right and at the end of the day they have a really beautiful set of images to remember how it felt to be in this time of their lives.
Enjoy!
