When I roll up for a portrait shoot, the camera stays in the bag. I know it sounds counter-productive but my shoots start with conversation, not photos! I can make a pretty photo anywhere, but until that photo has meaning, it is worthless. A photo that will resonate with the subject holds weight. A photo that suits a business’ brand holds weight. A photo that has meaning beyond it’s beauty holds weight.
So, here’s Alyssa Scott. Artist. Masters student in Visual Arts. Lover of country and open space. I did not know any of this until we chatted on my arrival, but that’s ok! I got a sense for her vibe, what her “brand” is when it comes to her artwork and ultimately how I could tell that story in photos. She was looking for headshots to use on her website and social media, but after hearing her story, I knew I needed to do so much more.
Did we do a simple headshot? Dang straight. Did we do creative? Yes. Then, we did everything in between because I believe in creating collections when the opportunity presents itself. Level up you headshot game 🙂 See more of my portrait work over at RobWhelan.ca
