Picture this, this dude I know from back in the day when I was able to put in 60+ days of snowboarding a year calls me up and says, “hey, I’m getting married at Alpine Ski Club and we want to make sure we get photos on the Blue Mountain Gondola, more with epic views of Georgian Bay and oh yeah, we have a vintage Mercedez…You in?” YEAH I’M IN! Obviously, I’m paraphrasing a little but the amount of rad stuff that occurred on this hot, sunny day in Collingwood was over the dang top. But you know, stuff is just stuff and what I’m more interested in is people and how they interact with each other. The laughs. The gestures. The realness. Yeah, you better believe this wedding had all of that too!
Our day started out in their condo, just minutes from the well known Blue Mountain Resort. I hung out with the girls while they did their preps, but mostly just drank champagne. I kid, I kid, but I knew right away that this was going to be a fun day because these girls never stopped laughing and I don’t think it was because of the bubbly. Nope, these are just some fun girls with some zest in their souls. Tanya and Tyler wanted to get their photos done before the ceremony so that they could partake in the cocktail hour and really be with their guests. So, with that, a first look was in order and a great first look it was. They picked their respective jaws up off the grass and we loaded up the whole wedding party into a short bus and b-lined for sunset point. You ready for this? I mean, the beach is cool and everything but what comes next was a first for me…the introduction of the LOVE BALL! As if cruising the beach with a full wedding party wasn’t attention grabbing enough, we got totally silly with a giant inflatable ball. Pure funzies, just like the people we were with.
Once we had all completely sweated through our clothes, we dismissed the bridal party and I got to go ride the Gondola to the top of Blue Mountain for some portraits of Tanya and Tyler, without their friends heckling them. We wrapped up with a few more shots with Tanya’s Dad’s vintage Benzo and then set off for Alpine Ski Club to make this joint official. Vows, Kisses and some signatures opened the night for some great speeches, great food and dancing and that final epic photo op, the singe your hairs off riot of a good time, sparkler send off. Woah, time for a beer, what a day!
Wait, wait, wait, before you scroll, let me shout out the other vendors who delivered the goods that brought this wedding together! Tanya’s dress from Made with Love, Flowers from Street Flowers, Hair by Janelle Shakell, Make-up stylings from Katie Ballentyne, wedding coordination from Jami Roberts and on the 1 and 2’s – DJ Kage. Thanks y’all!
