Maternity Photo Session | Nisha + Tom

As a wedding photographer, I meet people a year before they get married. Then we do engagement photos not long after booking the wedding date. Then the wedding. Then, a year or two later I often get an email announcing the next phase of life. We’re pregnant! The maternity photo session is like the engagement photos of family photography, especially with the first child. There’s so much excitement, anxious feelings (the good kind) and the session is like a nod to life as a couple before moving into life as a little family. Getting said email is always a huge honour. There really isn’t anything more rewarding to a wedding photographer than to see couples I’ve worked with for so long become parents.

This is Nisha and Tom. They’re an active couple and they smile a lot. They were as fun and excited to shoot their maternity photos as they were their Yoga + Rock Climbing engagement photos a couple of years back. While I didn’t get them into any mountain top, couples yoga postures, I did enjoy posing them to show off Nisha’s baby belly!

In a few weeks, life is going to be different for Nisha and Tom and I’m so excited that they’ll have these photographs to remember the engagement period of their incoming family life!
